Lace, Lace Everywhere

As we mentioned last month, underwear as outerwear is still hot. But what’s even hotter is a hint of lace peeking out from under shirts and tops. According to this AP article,

"'Today's woman likes to have a hint of lace showing under a white blouse or have the top of a lacy camisole show. It's modern, sexy and accepted,' says Barbara Lipton, vice present and general manager for fashion brands at Warnaco."

Lace is everywhere and not just for trim. Seattle Weekly gives high mark to Hanky-Panky’s incredibly comfortable stretch lace panties. Eyelet, that old standby, is enjoying a resurgence too, showing up on tops, dresses, even evening gowns. Why not continue the trend in underwear as well? Check out the sweet trim on bras like this from Vanity Fair.

Today's lace promise a comfort that belies its old image as starchy and stiff. In fact, textile manufacturers are bringing lots of innovations to standards like linen and cotton --making them more interesting and more comfortable. For you textile-followers, the Internation Herald Tribune has a great article on fabric trends.
